This Game is set 100?s of years after Ocarina Of Time took place, Link is now a legend and the story of him defeating Gandorf is told to everybody. You Play as a different Link who has come of age. On his birthday his Sister is Kidnapped by a Giant Bird. With the help of some fairly nice Pirates you must Travel to the Forsaken Fortress to rescue her. Once you reach her Gandorf appears and gets the Giant bird to throw you out to sea. You get Picked up by a talking boat who tells you that Gandorf has his power back is after Princess Zelda (As Usual). A couple of events and plot twists later you?re left with the Master Sword which the lengandary Link used to bring gandorf down all those years ago. With this sword you must defeat Gandorf, but first you must return the power to the Master Sword......
The GamePlay --
This stinks of Zelda gameplay, apart from one or two new weapons the gameplay is exactly the same as Ocrina, which for the record was near perfect. Ninty have left the option to set 3 items to the Y, X, and R trigger buttons. the target lock on system is as great as ever with a simple tap of R2 Trigger you will have locked on to your nearest enemy then you simply have to you the weapon button, simply but so effective! So the Action is as great as ever however the traveling isn?t! In Ocarina tiding Epona (Your Horse) was a joy, going through forrests, Deserts, and various other enviroments. But now All the Action Takes Place at sea, which is damn big ( it takes you 10minutes to get from one side to the other with no loading times) but is very, very boring. In my opinion this lets the game down. To negotiate the sea you must use your Wimd Conductor to change wind direction, a nice touch but not as great as the Ocarina. Still, as you travel the sea you always know that theres a lovely dungeon waiting for you.
The Graphics --
You will probally notuce that this game is now Cel Shaded, ditching Ocarinas realistic look. I absoulutely love this look, Fire effects may not be Realistic but damn they?re fine! This game does push Gamecube to the limits having a massive sea with no loading screens, The delight of walking through a dungeon door and not having to wait is brilliant. It?s small things like this that makes the gameplay smooth and delightful!
LifeSpan --
As always with Zelda games there are lots of puzzels (some easy, some not so) but Zelda Vetrans will find them quite easy, if you have to keep a switch down for a door to stay open and theres a Crate in the corner the soultion is obvious! That said it is still a big challenge, maybe not the Epic that Ocarina And Majoras Mask were, but it will take 20 - 30hrs for you to complete if you want to get the most out of it, minimal completion time would be around 15hrs.
Overall --
Ocarina Of Time is my Favorite game ever so theres always going to be criticisms, But when you take away the boring travel you have classic Zelda gameplay. This game may have been dumbed down abit but is still quite a challenge. You wont find a better Adventure game out on the Next Gen Consoles!
