Dewey Finn (Jack Black, `Shallow Hal?) is a thirty-something metal guitarist who has just been kicked out of his band. Facing the wrath of his roommate, Ned (Mike White, `The Good Girl?), and his girlfriend (Sarah Silverman, sadly wasted here) for past unpaid rent, Dewey happens upon a phone call meant for Ned offering a substitute teacher position at a posh prep school. Assuming Ned?s identity, Dewey takes over a class of 5th graders and soon recognizes that he could start a rock band with the kids, exacting revenge on those that discouraged his talents before. Taking the kids through Classic Rock 101, Dewey moulds the class into true metal musicians, ultimately gunning for a `Battle of the Bands? competition.
When I went to go and see this film I thought, "not sure what to make of this film but my girlfriend is here so I am not going to see that much of it anyway so if I get bored it don?t really matter." Well all I can say is that there was no need for a girlfriend in this film!
It is such a good film that can appeal to virtually anyone. The comedy appeals to people on all levels which makes it that much funnier for those who get the more complex jokes (there aren?t many of them) and still incredibly good for those who may not understand.
It also has a great selection of music which is mainly based around 70?s-80?s rock bands which include classics like ACDC, Rush, The Who and Led Zeppelin and they was that they change some of the songs increase the comedy value.
Over all I thought this was a great film and one to buy when it comes out and I rate this Film 9/10 and it is defiantly one to watch
