Medal Of Honor : Rising Sun
The Story -

Medal of Honor Rising Sun gives players a look at what it would of been like to fight the Japanese from Pearl Harbour to the shores of the Philippine Islands. You take the role of Marine Corporal Joseph Griffin. He survives the attack on pearl harbour and leads a tame into the jungle to rescue his brother from a Japanese Prisioner of war camp in the Philippines. it?s up to players to stop the Japanese war machine in its tracks.

The Gameplay -

The gameplay is pretty much the same as it was in Frontline. which is good but in the days of Halo and Timesplitters 2 it?s looking a little dated. The japanese soilders have supposedly been going to the Rambo school of war because you can shoot them in the head 3 or 4 times without them flinching, and some times you can?t shoot them until they have seen you which means the stealth approach is pretty much non-excistent. In later levels it?s hard to tell who is and isn?t on your side aswell because the uniforms are so alike. It?s not all bad though, the shooting despite the few niggles of earlier is good fun, but shooting the japanese isn?t as satisfying a putting a bullet in a Nazi. The weapons stay true to the time and are capable of doing alot of damage, the Tompson sniper rifle clearly being the best. The ememy AI is as good as ever, when you throw a grenade they kick it back or run for cover, they stop firing to avoid freindly fire, and they punch, kick, and stab when you get to close. It?s a shame that the rest of the game doesn?t live up to the very atmospheric Pearl Harbour opening level.

Graphics -

It all starts off very promising with bullets flying, people dying, and planes being shot down in pearl harbour. Then its starts to get a bit samey on the secocnd level as you go through a town, the graphics engine is almost exactly the same as the one in Frontline and it shows. Most soliders have the exact same faces and the jungle which should be the best looking of all looks very plain.

Lifespan -

I rented this game out for 3 days and within 2 i had completed it with atleast 3 stars on each level. The CO-OP will stretch the game life abit as will the online play but it?s still gonna be collecting dust on the shelf within weeks..

Overall -

This game can be good fun in the very short run but you shouldn?t really consider buying this. Rent it out for a couple of days and i promise you that you?ll see everything that it has to offer. Dissapointing.
